Bellarmine University is looking for a skilled general maintenance staffer with strong carpentry skills. Position will work second shift (3:30pm - Midnight), primarily Monday through Friday. Strong candidates will be those who have demonstrated skills, strong professionalism, and can work with minimal supervision in a diverse campus environment.
This is a regular, full-time 40-hour per week position with normal working hours. Occasional overtime is required and may be called in after hours for emergencies. When working overtime, will receive overtime pay as appropriate. Job location is the entire campus
To provide general maintenance of the campus facilities, with a specialty in carpentry work. Individual must be able to work alone or as a member of a team, providing service as a carpenter, as well as all other facets of maintenance work, as needed, completing assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner. This position may require the individual to respond to emergencies after normal business hours as determined by the supervisor, or be assigned to other shifts as needed.
Must be able to work as a member of a group, or individually, with minimal supervision, be versatile and willing to perform a variety of assigned tasks with equal care and professionalism. Must be able to work around and interact within a diverse community of academic and administrative staff and students in a courteous and professional manner.
Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, construction helpful. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and have an MVR that passes the criteria set by our insurance carriers.
Position answers to Assistant Supervisor, or Supervisor of Maintenance.
Maintenance personnel, by definition, may be exposed to various hazards while performing their assigned duties. These hazards can be, but are not limited to, working around electrical devices, pressurized pipes and containers, hot water/steam, exposure to various chemicals, dust, molds, heat, cold, working at heights above six feet from ground level, working inside confined spaces, around power equipment and machinery, etc. Individual must be able to lift to 80 pounds as required. While Bellarmine University Maintenance Department makes every effort to maintain a safe and accident-free working environment, potential hazards do exist.
