| Summary Columbia Country Club was founded in 1898, it is a private member owned club which is situated in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The Club’s 1,600 family members enjoy golf, indoor and outdoor tennis, fitness and aquatic facilities, ice rink and paddle tennis courts. Annual gross revenues of $11 million with food and beverage sales of $4.6 million. The Assistant Superintendent reports to and is under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent. The individual in this position will be held responsible for routine golf course maintenance, pesticide action plans and general grounds observation throughout our 18 hole, 6,545 yard course designed by Walter Travis. CCC is a par 70 with a slope of 140. This year we will be hosting a nationwide televised event this July 2021 for the Girls US Open. In addition to the unparalelled experience youll gain, we will be renovating our irrigation system and all bunkers throughout the course this coming winter and transitioning to Tahoma 31 fairways overseeded with Rye in July 2022 Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Determine routine golf course maintenance operations such as watering, fertilizing, mowing, rolling, and bunker maintenance.
- Monitor, identify and determine treatment for pest and diseases and apply herbicides, insecticides and fungicides when necessary.
- Oversee some turf maintenance on immediate clubhouse grounds including irrigating, mowing, string trimming, edging.
- Monitor and repair irrigation system around the golf course.
- Assists in coordinating construction projects with club management and outside contractors.
- Works on special projects as assigned.
- Oversee golf course green department staff members’ daily tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will directly oversee the daily activities of 20+ general laborers. In addition, he/she will be held responsible for the direction, strategies and coordination of this specific area of course operations. |
