Facility Operations Leader

Department VICE PRES INFORMATION TECHNLGY (UA-VPIT-IUBLA) Job Summary Provide on-site management for facilities development, both new facilities and renovation of existing ones. Evaluate purchases, oversee installations and provide server maintenance. Supervise the work activities of contractors and staff in providing facilities and electrical support and security. Coordinate computer room and phone switch room facilities operations and related maintenance for UITS at IU Bloomington; act as backup to the UITS Facilities Engineer. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or related field and two years of experience in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or related field. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. Strong listening skills. Proficient communication skills. Effective leadership skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities. Understanding of budgets and budgeting process. Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Ability to successfully complete required training programs. Preferred Qualifications Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering will also be strongly considered. Experience with HVAC systems, security systems, or general electrical experience. CAD knowledge and experience. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires evaluation of blueprints related to new construction and renovation. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Position is also on-call for emergencies relating to electrical, security, and related environmental issues for 24x7 operations.
