The Physical Plant department at Plymouth State University is seeking two motivated, positive, and experienced Grounds Workers to become part of the team. The Groundsworker/Gardener will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks and supply labor related to grounds and maintenance. The Physical Plant department is responsible for the operations and maintenance, renovations and construction of all buildings, grounds, and utilities of Plymouth State University. These services are provided to develop and maintain a functional, attractive, and safe environment conducive to learning and to support the Universityâs tradition of excellence. The Physical Plant department has dedicated, professional staff trained in every trade required to provide these services and/or to oversee contracted services that the department does not directly provide. Under direct supervision of the Grounds Manager this position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of very high-visibility areas including responsibility for the day-to-day operations of all gardens; including weed control, design and creation of all new gardens and plantings. The Grounds Worker/Gardener also assists the Grounds Manager to select contractors for maintaining the over 2,000 trees University wide, as well as provide input on capital projects for plantings and landscape for both new projects and renovations. This position is 100% time with benefits working 40 hours per week.
* High School Diploma or G.E.D. * One year of experience in grounds maintenance. * A valid driver's license * Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform characteristic duties of the job including heavy lifting up to 75lbs, and exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. * Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. * Possess DOT medical card or the ability to acquire.
