What you’ll be doing...
Lead and manage an experienced team of RF Design Engineers in the CARTN Region. Staff, train, and develop the team as necessary. Oversee the optimal design of the radio frequency network including, but not limited to, Macro Cells, small cells, outdoor DAS nodes, and in-building systems. Manage existing cell design improvements, capacity upgrades and site modifications to ensure Verizon meets its KPI targets thus providing our customers the premium experience they deserve. Drive the team to proactively conduct long term planning to ensure long lead performance solutions are tracked and included in network upgrades/redesigns. Ensure that small footprint solutions integrate efficiently with the overlying macro cell network. Manage the traffic component of small footprint solutions and the Baseline drive testing program. Ensure network performance maintains consistency with changing requirements and needs of the business.
Manage the design and evolution of the 5G, LTE/VoLTE and CMDA networks utilizing RF engineering techniques.
Manage the issuing of new Search Areas to develop the required capacity and coverage of the network and manage the prioritization of these search areas as well as maintain a robust pipeline.
Manage and lead the RF Design team technically for design and operation of superb and efficient network for 5G, LTE/VoLTE.
Coordinate with Engineering the evaluation and implementation of new Search Areas.
Coordinate and maintain FCC / FAA regulatory documentation with our Regulatory group.
Conduct site evaluations utilizing propagation tools and simulation tests.
Support meeting required performance objectives, such as accessibility, retain ability, latency, and throughput.
Lead in the issuing and management of SDCOs for system growth and optimization via redesign and antenna system modernization.
Perform RF Design tests and evaluate vendor recommendations.
Attend and support site zoning meetings and community forums.
Manage network radio equipment to meet growth requirements.
Support the resolution of customer trouble tickets.
Identify and implement system modifications to improve service quality including; antenna system, system parameter, and software changes.
Perform reviews and recommendation on build plan requirements to resolve capacity and coverage challenges.
Administer & implement RF Safety regulations.
Prepare new cell site translations and integration efforts - ensure accuracy & timeliness.
Insure smooth integration of new services and technologies into network.
Support Verizon interdepartmental requirements in various technical and construction related projects.
Develop designs for new cells and provide for a smooth new cell integration process.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
A valid driver's license.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other technical field.
Three or more years of RF Design/Optimization management experience.
Ability to technically coach the teams in 5G and LTE RF Design.
Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities including, but not limited to, the following: understanding changes in the marketplace and the impact on our business, strategic goal and priority setting for the team, ability to build and maintain strong team.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of the RF and System Performance tools.
Knowledge with test equipment including: DataPro, pilot scanners, baseline equipment, spectrum analyzers and sweep/PIM equipment.
Knowledge in digital communications including: Ethernet backhaul, Fiber, FTTC, and microwave.
Knowledge of RF system optimization techniques for voice and data.
Knowledge of RF engineering concepts and principles, including antenna and RF theory and propagation modeling.
Knowledge of traffic engineering principles.
Capability of aptitude and desire to learn and advance in a changing technical field.
Ability to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed.
Overnight travel may be required.
