This position will be responsible for the safe installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems associated with oil field production operations. The candidate must have thorough knowledge of the NEC code, practices, regulations, materials, and tools of the electrical trade.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide written reports to the Electrical Foreman regarding electrical service issues
Communicate with Electrical group, Production Foreman, and Superintendents regarding electrical outages
Assist with managing inventory of all Laredo electrical supplies and equipment
Work with electric utilities and contractors to install services
Identify and report electrical optimization opportunities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment
Answer service-related calls to repair down electric equipment
Train pumpers and technicians in electrical safety and basic electrical servicing
Manage oilfield electrical equipment to include motor sheave changes and replacement
Perform other duties as required by the Electrical Foreman
Have knowledge of how to repair power lines, replace fuses, and transformers
Have basic knowledge of troubleshoot and hookup of VFD’s, auto transformers, and ESP’s
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Work is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, and trucks and like equipment. Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines and under all weather conditions. May work in areas where H2S is present. Overtime is sometimes required.
Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 75 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. Work involves standing and walking most of the time but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods sometimes over rough terrain.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years oilfield experience including 2 years of electrical experience as an electrician, electrician's assistant, lineman or equivalent
Detailed knowledge of all oilfield electrical equipment and power line distribution
Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all level of employees in the organization
Must be self-motivated, demonstrate strong ethics, be able to work with minimal supervision, and be flexible and cooperative with co-workers
Electrical license not required but a plus
