Purdue University Fort Wayne is seeking an Associate Athletic Director (AD) for Operations. The Associate AD for Operations is a member of the senior athletics administration within the Department of Athletics. This key position will serve as a liaison for all new facility projects including construction, upgrades, and renovations. The successful candidate will be responsible for management of intercollegiate events, with emphasis on customer experience, logistics, supervision/training/scheduling of support staff, game management, and event setup/breakdown, as well as overseeing compliance with all applicable safety regulations, building codes and safety requirements. Serves as the direct supervisor to the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations. Additional responsibilities include:
Oversight of budget and purchasing as it relates to Event Operations.
Assist in the preparation and administration of the annual budget and annual reports as needed.
Management of capital improvements, maintenance, and athletics projects.
Meets with vendors and works with University Purchasing for competitive prices on quality products to minimize costs and expenditures.
Prepares settlement of events by providing information and determining fiscal accuracy.
Oversees maintenance, improvement and game day preparation for the following areas: Basketball Arena, Baseball and Softball Fields, Soccer Facility, Indoor Track Facility and all other Athletic Facilities.
Prioritize requests from coaches and administration regarding Athletic facility maintenance.
Oversee all plans for athletic facilities maintenance and improvements including repairs, preventative efforts, new equipment, estimates, time and labor costs, etc.
Serves as department’s liaison with Facilities Management and outside contractors to secure and transmit information concerning cost, timing, and completion of facility related projects and maintenance.
Prepares and maintains records of work performed and completed.
Oversees daily security and access to facilities including maintaining key inventory and scheduling door readers.
Oversees inventory database of capital equipment.
Participates in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, and trade shows.
Oversight of the technological needs of the facilities including operation and maintenance of scoreboards, shot clocks, and video-boards.
Sport Administrator of teams as assigned.
Oversight of Media Services.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Development and implementation of revenue generating activities relative to facility use.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Four to five years of experience in athletic facility operations, which includes at least one year of supervisory and coordinative experience OR any equivalent combination of experience training and/or education.
General knowledge of League and NCAA policies and regulations as they pertain to athletics operations, event management, and activities.
Working knowledge and experience with athletics events and/or facility operation experience.
Ability to develop policies and procedures related to facilities operations.
Must possess time management, organizational, and communication skills, as well as be task-oriented.
Ability to read, understand, perform, and enforce all safety policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, local, university, and department established guidelines.
Ability to read and interpret plans diagrams, construction documents and specifications.
Skill in verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
Self-directed, innovative and a strong problem solver in setting priorities and meeting goals.
Ability to work scheduled hours including nights and weekends as needed to satisfy athletic facility needs for athletic contests and special/home events.
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
