Bachelorâs Degree in Construction, Design, Engineering or Architecture related field. Construction supervisory, project management or construction administration experience on complex commercial and/or institutional projects. Experience managing projects with an IWMS system. Experience in construction of all building components (e.g. mechanical and electrical systems, building envelops and systems furniture).
The Facilities Planning & Management department at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Construction Project Manager II/III to provide project and construction management services for small capital renewal and building repair projects for campus facilities. Primary duties include:
â¢ Plans and coordinates design and construction of small construction and repair projects using contractors, Facilities staff and others. â¢ Acts as primary liaison with campus customers to ensure projects meet needs. â¢ Prioritizes activities and resources to execute projects on schedule. â¢ Oversees project budgets. â¢ Participates in developing spending and budget reports. â¢ Works with designers to evaluate products and design standards for building repair type projects.
Level Duties for CPM II â¢ Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals â¢ Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues â¢ Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems â¢ Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests â¢ Leads projects of moderate scope and complexity
Level Duties for CPM III (beyond CPM II) â¢ Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISUâs mission and department or work unit goals â¢ Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude. Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action â¢ Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. Provides recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices â¢ Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction and mentoring to other staff â¢ Leads projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist â¢ May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff, Provides guidance to part-time student
To qualify to the Construction Project Manager III position, the candidate must have a Bachelorâs degree and 5 years of related experience. The Construction Project Manager III is a pay grade 809. Â
