The Department of Environmental Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Facility Operations Assistant 1. The successful candidate will:
Sweep, rake, shovel, and remove by hand, debris, leaves, branches, etc.
Clean sites and prepares them for planting, rake, till soil, and digging.
Plant seeds, bushes, tress, etc. using hand and power tools and machines.
Cut grass, fertilizes and waters ground; prunes bushes and trees; removes or transplants bushes or trees and performs a variety of other manual tasks.
Remove dead trees and performs such by cutting, splitting logs using a chain saw, sledge hammer and wedges.
Load trucks with debris, logs, dirt, etc., using hand or power tools.
As needed, construct, repair or paint fences.
Maintain roads, walkways, and parking lost at State facilities.
Wear work attire that will be issued, and is required to be worn on duty.
There are no education or experience requirements for this position.
Must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position (medium to heavy physical labor) and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Valid New York State Driver’s License, appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Days Variable; 7:00am to 3:30pm
