Spring Valley Golf Course is currently seeking an Equipment/Shop Manager to continue and expand on a quality maintenance program that has been in place for years. Our goal is to provide an excellent customer experience and working environment for our staff. The course is surrounded by County Parks land and rural properties in the beautiful foothills of Milpitas, CA. Spring Valley Golf Course was constructed in 1956 and has benefitted from significant capital improvements over the years with a master plan currently under way for further major improvements.
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the equipment needed for the continued operation of the golf course. This position must coordinate their activities with the Golf Course Superintendent (GCS) and other staff who may also be involved in equipment maintenance and utilization. This position should assist the GCS in maintaining a high-quality, safe and efficient equipment fleet and facility maintenance program.
Place safety as top priority and responsible for maintaining a clean service area.
Working knowledge of the equipment and be able to train the staff in safe and proper operation.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance program.
Maintain and repair all golf course equipment.
Check mowing equipment daily on the golf course to ensure consistency and quality.
Diagnose and make repairs in the field.
Perform minor fabrication and welding as needed.
Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities.
Order parts and maintain parts inventory.
Maintain and work within a set budget.
Effectively communicate with staff in a team environment.
Assist in planning and implementation of new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
Assist in the preparation of department budgets.
Assist with regulatory and governmental compliance and inspections.
Assist with the acquisition of needed equipment and the justification of replacing equipment that has surpassed its useful life.
Computer Skills:Needs to use a computer to get and document information related to equipment repairs, record keeping, compliance/regulation and communications.
Work Environment:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to gasoline and other chemicals that are used and delivered by the equipment being maintained. The employee will also be outdoors in varying weather conditions (golf course and environs). The employee is also regularly expose to vibration and noise of machinery.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
