Reporting to the Manager of Reporting, Reporting Analyst serves as an integral part of the HRIS team in the University???s Central Human Resources organization. The Reporting Analyst will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and is responsible for the development of both scheduled and ad-hoc reports. This position plays a key role in supporting the University???s business through data analysis and extraction from its Human Capital Management applications, supporting team members on specific projects, and liaising with key stakeholders across the university to address department-specific reporting requirements.
Collect and compile HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human capital management (HCM) system including HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Labor Accounting Data. Analyze data and statistics for trends and patterns.
Develop ad-hoc and standard reports of HCM data using a variety of reporting tools. Maintain publicly available HR Metrics (turn-over, EEO, etc.).
Design develop, maintain, and deliver key monthly dashboards and metrics, scheduled and ad hoc reports and queries that meet the business needs of partners, and support all areas of HR.
Collaborate with the Manager of Reporting, to serve as a consultant to HR leaders to determine their data and reporting needs, define the best approach to meet those needs, and implement the solution.
Provide support in compiling, redefining, and visualizing data and delivering timely and accurate analysis of the company workforce data.
Translate functional needs into technical specifications and engage the Columbia University IT development team in the construction of this work.
Work closely with representatives of diverse business functions University-wide in the understanding and interpretation of HR data across various platforms.
Mentor the HRIS team members and share subject matter expertise across the team. Support the development of team capabilities, training other Analysts.
Assist in leading the ongoing transformation of the HR technology and operations organization ensuring tools and processes continuously meet evolving business needs.
Participate in cross-functional Data Reporting project team meetings to ensure strategy and operational issues are reviewed and addressed.
Support the team in shifting the delivery of reporting to the University Data Store to leverage the Business Objects Web Intelligence tool.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Bachelor???s degree and/or minimum of 3 years of related experience required, preferably in an HR/Payroll environment that includes management of multiple processes.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft and SAP Business Objects WebI strongly preferred.
Experience with process management/improvement preferred.
Experience in a variety of data reporting tools (SQL developer, Web Intelligence, MS-Access) strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Python preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high pressured, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability in a variety of competencies including project management, teamwork, data analysis, and client/customer awareness.
Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
Requires strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in ERP reporting are required.
