The current vacancy will function as the Utility Operations Manager and will be responsible for planning and supervising the activities of the engineering function within the Electric Utility Division. The ideal candidate will be well versed in best practices related to electrical distribution facilities and operations and will be an integral partner in the City's commitment to providing first-rate customer care. This position requires strategic thinking and planning skills to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies and provides highly responsible and complex technical support to the Division Manager. As a responsible professional, the incumbent must be able to work well with others and independently, as well as exercise initiative and good judgment in the performance of the tasks assigned to this position.
Knowledge of electric utility operations and practices; California General Orders 95, 165, and 174; applicable federal and state laws and regulations, modern developments regarding energy delivery; principles and practices of sound business communication; information technology and computer capabilities applicable to functional responsibilities; methods, techniques, and standards used in the design, construction, and operation of a variety of electric utility and communications projects; principles and practices of public administration; and principles and practices of electrical engineering, engineering economics, and other engineering disciplines used in the electric utility and communication industries.
