Under minimal supervision supports the efficient operation of the University by performing highly skilled security infrastructure work including maintenance, construction, installation, repair, and alteration
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, program, test, and commission new access control systems, surveillance cameras, intrusion systems, and other physical security infrastructure components.
Perform preventive maintenance on, troubleshoot problems with, and repair existing security infrastructure devices.
Assess requests for new installations of security infrastructure, create materials lists, and develop installation plans.
Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff and external customers. Meets customer needs, offers options, resolves problems and follows up with customers. Ensures full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customer to other staff members. Maintains friendly, helpful demeanor.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Follow assigned work orders, performs a variety of tasks, and maintains the cleanliness of work areas and building systems.
Represent LMU at various construction project meetings, job walks with vendors, and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required.
Minimum two years' proven security infrastructure or relevant installation and maintenance experience.
Technical experience with Mercury controller-based access control systems like Genetec, Lenel, and/or Avigilon.
Technical experience with IP based security cameras.
Technical experience with the video management systems like Genetec or Lenel preferred.
Technical experience with Onity and electronic locking hardware preferred.
Ability to plan, organize, control, and direct all aspects of required corrective and preventative maintenance for all campus buildings.
Knowledge of standard practices, processes and safe use of materials, hand and power tools, and digital test equipment.
Ability to work within the overall organization of the University and work with skilled and unskilled personnel and administrators.
Must possess good oral and written communication skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to express ideas effectively and concisely.
Must be willing to seek training to enhance or learn new skills.
Must be accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to meet the ongoing missions of the University.
Must possess knowledge and technical skills required for the installation, repair and maintenance of the security infrastructure used across campus.
Ability to obtain OSHA workplace safety certificates.
Ability to effectively work individually or in teams as well as with diverse groups.
Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
Ability to follow through and carry out assignments.
Ability to understand and apply University and Departmental policies and procedures.
Typically, a High School diploma, trade school certificate or equivalent experiences. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
Technical certificates or certifications such as Network+, CCNA, Genetec, or Lenel preferred.
Requires valid California driver's license. Must maintain a "satisfactory" driving record as evidenced by DMV records.
Constantly required to sit, feel, use finger movement, speak clearly, hear conversation, see near and far. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach high and low, use depth perception, work on ladders. Occasionally required to lift, carry and push up to 25 lbs.
