We are looking for a Permit Expeditor to facilitate the smooth completion of permitting for our internal construction projects. A Permit Expeditor is responsible for preparing building permit submittal packages, as well as coordinating the efficient submittal, approval, and retrieval from local jurisdictions, leading to timely Certificates of Occupancy. The goal is to support the timely and cost-effective completion of projects. The Permit Expeditor communicates the status of each permit, and works closely with Project Managers to meet company timelines and goals.
Review, prepare, submit, and receive permit packages in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
Coordinate payment and reimbursement of permit fees according to company guidelines
Work with internal teams, consulting architects and engineers and jurisdictional employees to understand and resolve any jurisdictional comments
Be an advocate for the Company and work with local jurisdictions to streamline permit processes
Schedule appointments to meet customers and obtain customer signatures, final paperwork sign off and payment collection.
Organize all completed paperwork, and process payments in a compliant, secure manner, if assigned
Prepare project documentation for construction teams
Utilize software systems to record progress of various tasks
Keep apprised of continuously changing regulations and notify staff accordingly
Be well organized and timely with flow of emails, record documents online and transport documents
Educate prospective and existing clients on regulations and codes relevant to their projects and provide solutions to potential permitting challenges
Lead a weekly update call with internal and external stakeholders
Other tasks as needed by the business
Construction Project Coordinator Job Requirements:
High School Degree or equivalent work experience
2+ years' experience with construction permitting
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Smartsheet, and MS Outlook. Sage experience is a plus
Ability to understand basic engineering and construction concepts
Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong sense of urgency and problem solving skills
Pro-active, enthusiastic, self-starter with a good attitude who pays attention to details and is willing to work in a supportive, fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential, as is the ability to work with clients and colleagues at all levels
Valid drivers license and automobile insurance is required
Technology Minded; Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of RedTeam construction management software preferred
Must be Legally eligible to work in the US
