Work Site Location: Coeur d' Alene Campus Work Schedule: This benefited position is 80% full-time and has reduced hours during summer with pay and benefits over 12 months. Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide academic advising to TRIO students and coordinate the TRIO Peer Tutoring Program at North Idaho College. TRIO provides Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) assists students with basic college requirements and motivates students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education, with the goal of increasing the college retention and graduation rates of its participants. The primary focus of this position is to provide academic support and increase retention, transfer, and graduation rates of low-income and first-generation students as well as students with disabilities.

This list includes but is not limited to the following:
Advises TRIO participants to include: assisting students with navigating financial aid requirements, including FAFSA completion, financial literacy and accessing scholarships; academic advising including development of career and educational plans; and assistance with the transfer process including admission applications, scholarships and financial aid.
Manages all aspects of SSS tutor program, including: developing and conducting tutor training, coordinating tutor schedules, revising and updating tutor and tutee handbooks, approving weekly tutor time entries, and coordinating the tutor evaluation process.
Assists with recruiting, selecting and advising qualified students to apply for and participate in TRIO SSS.
Keeps up-to-date records on student progress, contacts and services rendered.
Assists with data tracking and submission of the Annual Performance Report required by The Department of Education.
Collaborates with NIC faculty and staff to facilitate an institutional climate supportive of TRIO SSS eligible and underrepresented students.
Maintains basic and current understanding of TRIO grant legislation and regulations.
Attends departmental and other meetings as required.
Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates tutors (20-30 per semester); plans, assign, and directs work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Participates in campus committees as assigned by the Director.
Participates in state and regional TRIO conferences and trainings.
Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides one-on-one professional tutoring for a variety of math courses.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's and two years full-time related experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to conduct effective training and presentations • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office applications • Basic skills using student records system • Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone, copier
