Provide day-to-day supervision of student housing facilities to ensure proper service to the resident community. Supervise student employees as assigned. This role will work alongside the Access & Asset Supervisor and under the supervision of the Housing Services Manager.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Hire, train and supervise a crew of (8-20) student workers to provide services requested by students and housing staff.
Serve as the liaison with Facilities Management staff to plan and coordinate projects affecting the residence facilities; follow up on work request(s), and ensure the upkeep of all housing facilities.
Oversee processes related to assessment of building conditions (i.e. Quality Control Program). Walk each residential facility with the RD each semester.
Serves as SHO Safety Coordinator, which includes ensuring staff participate in all annual trainings (cart, biohazard, lifting, etc.)
Work with the Access & Asset Supervisor to plan the upkeep, replacement and procurement of building assets.
Work with the Access & Asset Supervisor to manage SHO Room Reservations (meeting room, conference room, multiple-purpose rooms, etc.) including providing access to approved staff, faculty and administrators.
Manage and respond to facilities related questions from students and coordinate requests concerning furnishings, equipment (i.e. screens, vacuums cleaners, etc.), carpet and blinds/drapery maintenance and various supplies (i.e. light bulbs, toilet paper).
Maintain inventory and monitor condition of all student housing furnishings and property in 17+ buildings. Ensure a surplus for replacement, repair and emergency needs.
Solicit estimates for services from vendors and contractors. Coordinate, supervise, audit, and verify work done by contractors.
Manage the set-up and take down of Housing office and classroom spaces that require reservation.
Assist with the transition of the housing facilities to and from Conferences & Scheduling.
Assist the Housing Services Manager in developing and coordinating long and short-range plans for renovations and refurbishment of existing and acquired facilities. Assist in the implementation of these plans and directly implement projects as assigned.
Responsible for all inspections of housing facilities (i.e. health & safety inspections, fire, insurance, etc.).
Assist with the opening and closing processes for the residential facilities.
Serve as Conduct Officer.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Experience/Qualifications
Minimum 2-4 years' experience in facilities/property management or Housing Administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory principles; current methods, practices and procedures relating to property and general facilities management. Knowledge of general renovation and new construction principles, processes and procedures. Mathematical abilities to compute measurements of a room and furnishings, and expenditures.
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills. Ability to perform long range planning; coordinate efforts with multiple campus and service providers; facilitate problem resolution; analyze and administer programs and systems.
Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of student information systems.
Required Education
Typically a Bachelor's Degree in business administration or related field. Master's Degree is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Requires valid California driver's license. Must maintain a "satisfactory" driving record as evidenced by DMV.
Physical Demands
Occasional climbing, kneeling, crawling, and feeling with hands. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching high and low, finger movement, clear speaking, conversational hearing, seeing near and far and use of depth perception.
Occasional exposure to extreme heat, temperature changes, wetness and humidity.
