Job Summary: | The Department of Hospital Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Hospital Facilities Coordinator / Associate Administrator. Reporting directly to the AVP of Hospital Facilities, and with some latitude for independent initiative and judgement, the successful candidate will: - Evaluate space requirements, consider environmental and program needs for the location being served.
- Conduct field surveys to review and inspect University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) facilities, obtain relevant data to evaluate current and future facility requirements, interpret organizational plans, and communicates those who occupy and/or use facilities.
- Perform studies of existing space and space layouts to determine opportunities for more effective and efficient utilization.
- Meets with hospital personnel to survey, assess and identify specific program needs.
- Prepare reports and makes recommendations regarding space requirements.
- Provides input, and accepts input from, specialists such as interior designers, architects, engineers, and technologists.
- Adheres to relevant FGI, ASHRAE codes and regulatory agencies such as MCCS, DOH, TJC, as well as codes and standards that apply to interior hospital spaces.
- Make recommendations regarding the replacement, repair or redeployment of furniture and related equipment.
- Adhere to procurement policies, develop specifications for bidding and cost estimates leading to the purchase of new furniture and equipment.
- Create work orders to define requirements for related improvements such as painting and carpentry work.
- Oversee installation of furniture, finishes, and equipment.
- Coordinate the work of dealers/suppliers, trade workers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate details of relocation of personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Prepare and present progress reports.
- Maintain inventories and records regarding space utilization at UHB, as well as the equipment, artwork, and fixtures within these spaces.
- Utilize computer systems including office productivity, architectural design and drawing, facilities management, inventory control systems, in the performance of duties.
- In addition to performing the work in the aforementioned, perform the following with limited supervision and considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment.

Required Qualifications: | - Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college in Engineering or Architecture with 4+ years of related full-time work experience;
- OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8-years of related full-time work experience.
- Related experience includes work involving responsibilities such as:
- Evaluation and layout of space in buildings and other structures similar to those in a hospital or educational institution.
- Experience in projects requiring broad knowledge of construction needs, costs, and building standards, developing and interpreting schematic layouts.
- Installation of technology such as computer and telecommunications systems.
- Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
