The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Resident Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Managing project timelines and budgets for assigned projects
- Successfully interacting with multiple discipline teams including plant personnel, consultants and suppliers
- Specifying equipment performance and design criteria
- Estimating capital equipment and installation costs
- Defining and executing competitive bidding strategy
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Associate's Degree/Technical Diploma or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institute and five (5) combined years of experience engineering, manufacturing, and/or project management in a private, public, government or military environment
OR
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and two (2) combined years of experience engineering, manufacturing, and/or project management in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience managing capital projects, construction or maintenance activities in manufacturing
- Experience leading and/or managing capital projects in a private, public, government or military environment
- Project Management experience and certification
- Experience in capital equipment and/or facilities project design and specification in a private, public, government or military environment
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing engineering, process engineering, product engineering, product development, quality, and/or EHS in a private, public, government or military environment
- Prior experience with automated assembly equipment, facilities infrastructure, web lines, automated converting, extrusion, material handling, packaging or inspection equipment
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Green Belt certification
- Team player with the ability to contribute in a large enterprise environment
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Proficient user of typical business, office, and technical software for tasks such as spreadsheet computation, project design, and/or project scheduling
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/international
