As a process engineer, the successful candidate must be competent in performing, leading, and directing all aspects of Process Engineering for upgrades and new facilities. Supervisory responsibility may include providing technical guidance and coordination for staff assigned to one or more projects, mentoring, and developing staff, interviewing, and recruiting potential new hires.
Plan, organize, and oversee the process engineering activities with responsibility for quality and accuracy as well as performance budget and schedule
Develop project scopes and deliverables and communicate changes
Establish process design criteria and participant in the development of PFD and P&ID’s, heat and material balances, hydraulic calculations, and other process engineering tasks
Prepare equipment specifications and assist in the development of bid packages for procurement of equipment
Development of equipment arrangement drawings
Review and check vendor information and reconcile verses the process design documents
Coordinate with design leaders from other disciplines - participate in inter-discipline design reviews
Prepare studies and cost estimates for planned projects
Maintain familiarity with and utilize industry standards, procedures, and guidelines
Check calculations, reports, and studies to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes and specifications, design criteria and good engineering practices
Requires exceptional organizational skills with emphasis on meeting customer deadlines
Must work well with group, possess good communication and be comfortable working in a fast-paced diverse environment
Develop client relationships and participate in sales activities, client presentations, and proposal development, including engineering scopes and hours to complete
Participating in contractor job walks, services during construction, and shutdowns
B.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Paper Engineering – advanced degrees a +
10+ years of experience in the pulp and paper industry
Extensive knowledge of paper machine equipment, processes, and operations
Experience working in an operating facility with progressive roles a +
Proficient with MS office
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Able to travel as required
Pass drug test, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record per Company's policy
US Citizenship and Valid US Driver’s License
Typical duties will be performed in an office environment with occasional field trips to operating facilities or construction sites. This requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, computer data entry, normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting 25 pounds may be required.
Salary and benefits negotiable based on level of experience and the agreed upon responsibilities.
