In preparation of an upcoming retirement, Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative is seeking a full-time operations manager.  This position will safely, effectively and efficiently manage the engineering and operations department by coordinating, supervising and assisting in the construction, maintenance and operation of the electric system. 

The successful candidate must have a high school or equivalent diploma.  A degree in a field related to the position or a combination of continuing education related to the position and supervision education are required. A degree in electrical engineering is beneficial, but not required.  Eight years of rural electric cooperative experience in operations is required.   Power distribution engineering or journeyman lineman experience is beneficial.  Must be able to promote and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with co-workers and employees.  Must possess strong leadership skills with a commitment to teamwork and excellent communication skills.  A working knowledge of related computer applications and data communications is required.  Must be familiar with the use and application of all types of equipment used by the department.  Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of general building construction/maintenance needed.  The ability to obtain or improve upon the necessary skills of the position to perform the position duties efficiently and effectively.  This position is primarily office oriented with occasional fieldwork when necessary.  Will be exposed to highly stressful situations.  Reports as needed to Centuria or Siren office location.  Long hours are necessary depending upon workload/situation.  Must be able to perform effectively for long periods of time during large-scale outages.
