Arrowhead Environmental Partners – one of the fastest growing waste management companies in the United States – is looking for an Assistant General Manager to help oversee its anchor landfill in central Alabama and its operations. The Arrowhead Landfill Assistant General Manager will assist in the oversite of the entire landfill and its over 35 employees. That includes making sure that daily site procedures are followed safely, including landfill operations, environmental compliance and equipment maintenance policies. The Landfill Assistant General Manager will also have to oversee container and railcar unloading, which has been the landfill’s primary source of growth. Essential Job Functions The Arrowhead Assistant General Landfill Manager will: • Maintain safe operations across the entire facility. • Manage the landfill in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and Arrowhead policies. • Ensure consistent, compliant and profitable operations. • Monitor productivity and suggest operational and capital modifications to senior management. • Working with third-party environmental consultants, maintain ongoing oversite of all permitting and cell construction, and forecast potential issues. • Meet with officials from environmental agencies, state and federal officials regarding operations. • Train, supervise, direct and mentor staff on all issues regarding the efficient operation of the landfill and rail unloading operations. • Working with staff and third-party providers to assure equipment is properly maintained and repaired, when necessary. • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the Arrowhead landfill through inspections, training and preventive maintenance programs with managers and employees. Qualifications • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and switch between projects. • Excellent communication and organizational skills. • Excellent attention to detail. • Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities with effective distribution of time and effort. • Ability to lead and train others. Education and Experience • Education: Bachelor's Degree, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of relevant work experience. • Experience: 5 - 10 years managing one or more landfills, including MSW landfills. Experience with rail is a plus but not necessary. Other Job Responsibilities Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporate and/or State of Alabama sponsored training courses as assigned, including SWANA certifications. • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technologies and equipment used by Arrowhead • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the senior management.
