Partner with the Board of Directors in developing strategic plans and objectives
Meet or exceed annual financial and programmatic goals set by the Board of Directors
Manage the day-to-day operations and programs of HomeAid Austin
Establish a strong relationship with service providers, homeless advocates, public officials, the business community and homebuilding industry
Responsible for the recruitment, employment and release of all personnel, paid and volunteer
Coordinate with HomeAid America to ensure that activities and outcomes are consistent with the national mission, model and standards
Fund Development:
Drive execution of the annual development plan
Direct effective fund development programs with assistance from the Board for foundation grants, corporate & individual donor programs, in-kind contributions and fundraising events
Build and grow relationships with donors for funding, outreach and project-related purposes
Coordinate the involvement of Board of Directors in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors
Understand and drive grant writing process
Recommend and implement giving campaigns as fundraisers
Board Engagement & Leadership:
Work with the Board and Committees in meeting strategic goals
Initiate and assist in developing policy recommendations
Lead Board in stewardship via recruitment and new board member trainings
Participate in and/or lead Board committees as appropriate
Keep the Board fully informed on the health of the organization at monthly Board meetings
Construction Project Management:
Manage Project Manager and source new projects working with service providers, non-profit affordable builders and faith-based organizations
Facilitate legal and contractual documentation necessary for projects
Identify, coordinate and meet regularly with various projects’ Builder Captains
Oversee the execution of budgets related to projects
Manage Community Engagement Manager and provide structure and support for Care Days
Work with Builder Captains to obtain donations of labor and materials when needed
Co-manage construction budget with Builder Captain and Owner
Advocacy & Outreach:
Act as Chief Spokesperson for the organization, including promoting the organization through media and public speaking opportunities throughout the market
Serve as chief liaison to regional and national HomeAid organizations
Ensure appropriate representation of HomeAid by all Board members, employees and volunteers
Oversee the creation and implementation of an efficient marketing plan and all marketing, promotion, and public relations materials (e.g., website, social media, annual reports, advertising, promotional materials, etc.)
Develop concepts for and oversee the planning of donor cultivation events, including groundbreakings and dedication events
Budgeting & Administration:
Develop and monitor annual budget and financial reports, approve expenditures and ensure proper fiscal record keeping and internal reporting
Work with the Executive Committee regarding financial investments
Ensure Affiliate compliance with applicable HomeAid, federal, state and local policies and requirements
Maintain corporate documents in coordination with the Board
Operations:
Administer personnel policies as approved by the Board (e.g., Employment Handbook)
Ensure legal hiring and termination procedures
Provide structure for supervision and evaluation of all staff and volunteers
Ensure that job descriptions are developed, regular performance evaluations held and sound human resource practices are in place
Knowledge of local community required
Minimum 7 years’ experience with a non-profit and at least 2 years successfully managing or leading complex projects
Demonstrate firm understanding of non-profit operations
Proven fundraiser
Grant Writing experience
Excellent communication, presentation, leadership and organizational skills
Strong financial administrative experience
Possess an understanding of the various causes of homelessness and affordable housing issue, and be able to connect HomeAid Austin’s role in addressing these issues within the community
Strong recruiting skills for Board members, volunteers and potential donors with the ability to inspire confidence and provide guidance for volunteer leaders
Travel as needed locally and occasionally out of state
Access to reliable transportation
Able to utilize office resources provided by HomeAid Austin such as laptop computer, printer, etc.
