URM Stores, Inc. is looking for a talented Store Planner and Construction Coordinator to join our ever-growing team. The Store Planner and Construction Coordinator position reports to the Director of Store Planning and Equipment and is responsible for the design and layout for each new and remodeled location as assigned. In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating weekly construction meetings with the General Contractor and subcontractors.
URM is seeking an individual that will work collaboratively with our store owners to help execute modern and beautiful designs in the communities that we serve throughout the Northwest! You may recognize a few of the banners we work with, which include Rosauers Supermarkets, Super 1, and Yokes! This person has a collaborative approach, is future focused, customer-centric and dedicated to creating exceptional experiences aligned with our brand strategies.
Store Planner and Construction Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Design fixture plans, interior finish plans, details sheets & schedules using AutoCAD.
- Layout and design initial site development plans.
- Coordinate bid set plans and specifications for construction between architects & engineers.
- Work with Architects to develop exterior building design concepts.
- Prepare equipment lists and specifications.
- Negotiate equipment pricing with vendors & prepare equipment budgets.
- Liaison between store owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Help prepare and coordinate project schedules.
- Develop and review construction contracts.
- Review and approve monthly construction contract pay applications.
- Attend construction job meetings and coordinate RFI’s and submittals between contractors and design team.
- Prepare overall project cost estimates to include building construction & equipment total costs.
- Coordinate interior décor design with décor contractors and owners.
- Coordinate with URM store services for member owner shelving, refrigeration and equipment needs.
Qualifications:
- Proficient using AutoCAD
- Experience in design of supermarkets & restaurants a plus!
- Relevant experience in coordinating, supervising, or designing commercial projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills--Problem solver at heart!
- Ability to “change course” midstream and make modifications as requested.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of construction, design, retail store operations, and retail store equipment.
- Ability to work independently and be able to plan, organize and schedule time and activities effectively to achieve work goals.
- Strong project management and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Education Level:
- 5 years job related experience in store design, store equipment/material sourcing & construction management is preferred.
- Has supervised and coordinated new construction or remodels of supermarkets and/or retail buildings.
- Trained to operate current release of AutoCAD
- Experience in bidding process for store equipment and construction.
