To provide the engineering and operations departments with the most reliable transmission and distribution system maps and system models.
To assist the group to achieve company goals.
To provide necessary technical support to integrate the field inventory, electric and fiber optic GIS, automated staking sheet, CIS, engineering analysis, meter data management, AMI and outage management software programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/CLASSIFICATIONS
Education: An associate's degree in GIS emphasizing software programming is required while a bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
Experience: Must possess a minimum of five years of experience operating and maintaining a GIS system and be able to utilize the AutoCad and ESRI software systems. Experience in electric utility construction highly preferred.
Job Knowledge and Skills: Skills in AutoCad and ESRI setup, keyboard commands, pull-down menus and creating, then extracting attribute information is a requirement as are skills in maintaining and developing ArcGIS Online applications. A working knowledge of distribution/ transmission power systems is highly desired. Must be familiar with capacity and other characteristics of electrical systems, PC based software applications, automated mapping, staking, engineering analysis and GPS systems. Experience using SQL server and Python is preferred.
Normal Work Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Must be willing to travel throughout Blue Ridge Electric's service area and be able to attend job related workshops and/or seminars outside of this service area as required.
Driver's License Requirements: Operates company vehicle (light) as job requirement. Must have current, valid vehicle operator's license at all times. Must have safe driving record (three years).
Overtime Status: This position is subject to the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended.
