General Purpose of Job
This position is a student internship in the Engineering Department. The intern will work with experienced engineers to support transmission and distribution projects. This internship is designed to help develop engineering experience and skills within the electric utility industry in the areas of overhead and underground line design, planning and design of construction of electric facilities, and development of distribution system models used for load flow, voltage, and fault current analysis.

Education
Minimum: Completion of 1 Year towards BS Degree - Major: Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil
Minimum: Currently enrolled as a full-time student for BS Degree - Major: Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil
Experience
Preferred: Experience drafting drawings with AutoCAD and/or MS Visio
Other Requirements
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines, telephone, and fax machine.
- Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
- Normal work hours shall be eight (8) hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Valid Florida driver’s license for regular driving privileges of cooperative vehicles; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by the Cooperative.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to interpret construction assembly drawings; ability to understand changes and make corrections to drawing dimensions, placement within the top, plan, and side drawing views, and when objects are hidden within a view.
- Ability to change the width of lines within drawings, change line types, and import a component from another drawing or as provided by the manufacturer.
- Ability to maintain confidential information, and effectively manage stress and pressure in a frequently changing environment, ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in all situations.
- Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn GE Design Manager and other corporate computer systems applicable to the position.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills including written, verbal and listening to effectively interact with employees, supervisor and managers.
- Strong math skills and knowledge of electrical concepts and calculations.
- English is the primary business language. Second language in Spanish is desirable.

- Support system planning by updating detailed drawings from rough sketches, engineering notes, verbal descriptions, surveys, previous project documents, and pictures collected in the field data.
- Create and modify Design Manager Drawings (based on experience) to support project designs and studies and to help maintain electrical infrastructure records.
