Department Overview
The Program Manager of Cancer Early Detection will be responsible for the implementation of a novel early detection laboratory screen test as part of the Ambulatory Oncology Cancer Early Detection initiative. The test is also used to determine the tissue of origin for metastatic patients when to help determine the source of cancer. This position will work under the Knight Cancer Access to implement services aiming to help implement the test and scale the offering to a large eligible population. This position will also implement and project manage other early detection services as prioritized by Knight Cancer Access Leadership. This position will collaborate and report to Access leadership to assist with strategy and implementation of the program to grow and maintain organizational standards of quality and performance. Under the appointment of the Access leadership, this position may collaborate with other project initiatives ensuring that program goals are reached.
Function/Duties of Position
Program Management
Autonomous oversight of the Cancer Early Detection program with reporting structure through the Manager of Knight Cancer Access
Create stability and infrastructure by identifying long term needs of the program as it relates to overall cancer early detection initiatives to patients.
Manage program and project teams for optimal return-on-investment, and coordinate and delegate cross-program initiatives
Identify key requirements needed from cross-functional teams and external vendors

Organize ongoing activities based on the goals of cancer early detection, devise and create new programs that support the cancer early detection, and monitor to create stability.
Participate in appropriate activities that enhance general knowledge of or ability to do assigned work. This includes, but is not limited to the following: attend classes, seminars and other training forums; attend staff meetings and other informational sessions; read vendor documentation, trade publications, or other sources appropriate to position; interact with peers and other employees to receive and disseminate information.
Operations:
Independent oversight of day to day operations including long term planning and implementation of new cancer early detection services and initiatives.
Work closely with project stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and assigned managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives
Effectively communicate process improvement opportunities, engage key stakeholders, and solicit feedback/engagement.
Work with Access program leadership to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department
Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce program reports for management and stakeholders
In collaboration with manager achieves the quality benchmarks for patient safety measures and metrics for project outcomes
Ensure appropriate documentation of procedures and training of staff as needed
Service:
Serves as the KCI Clinic Service Excellence Ambassador by modeling and encouraging patient centered care. Implements and supports service excellence missions and standards. Develops and maintains relationships with referring physicians, patients, clinic staff, faculty, and management staff to ensure positive patient and staff interactions.
Demonstrates active listening skills and supportive, professional behavior at all times.
In collaboration with the Program Manager, develops corrective action plans when metrics are below standard.
Provides high quality customer service to both external customers (patient, referring providers, and insurance carriers) and internal customers (OHSU health care providers and staff) which meets or exceeds the service standards of the health care industry and OHSU. These duties will include prompt and professional communication efforts in written and verbal forms, face-to-face customer contact skills, crisis management, knowledge of available informational tools and technology, standard complaint processing, flexible coverage of internal service needs, and the continuous application of process improvement methods and skills.
Quality:
Under the appointment of Access leadership collaborates with operational changes, and facilitates policy/procedure changes as required.
Financial:
This position is responsible for understanding the Knight Cancer Clinic financial budget and goals, submit request as per assignment that align with program budgets and forecasts.
Develop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals/objectives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in a health science field and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Epic
Project management experience specific to ambulatory hospital or outpatient hospital care.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills and strong time management skills; demonstrated exemplary customer service orientation and ability to work as a team member.
Must possess ability to work independently, to prioritize and manage the program, own workload, and ability to appropriately delegate to support personnel.
Proven interpersonal problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; possess leadership skills demonstrated by positive and professional role-modeling and an encouraging motivational attitude.
Flexible, calm and non-judgmental; professional demeanor, strong patient, peer and physician communication skills;
Demonstrated skill in giving and receiving feedback possess patience and ability to teach/train staff at various levels of the learning curve and with various learning styles.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage cross-functional teams.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to proactively pursue problem resolution to satisfy customer needs
Ability to work with users to accurately assess and diagnose system problems as defined by user.
Demonstrated ability to track large amounts of detail with accuracy.

Demonstrated reliability in prior work experience.
Advanced spreadsheet skills, including complex functions, formulas, and formatting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in business administration or related field
Knowledge of OHSU's business policies and procedures.
Training and direct experience in implementing LEAN, Change Acceleration Process (CAPS) and Six Sigma
Experience in Oncology.
