ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist in properly categorizing and recording of financial information in conformity with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts (USofA).
- Apply the principles, concepts, and practice of GAAP and FERC accounting rules to ensure accounting transactions are recorded correctly.
- Serve as liaison between corporate accounting and other departments and stakeholders
- Assist, when needed, in the preparation of financial reports required by various regulatory authorities and assist with preparation of management reports, as required.
- Compile reports and related documents to support internal and external audit requests; work with external auditors and internal Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) Compliance, as needed.
- Develop and maintain back-up capabilities by engaging in knowledge sharing and training efforts with other accountants throughout the department, to include job sharing activities.
- Prepare special reports, accounting analyses, calculations and allocations and recommend/implement improvements for efficiency.
- Complete timely reconciliations of general ledger accounts on a routine basis and upon special request, to ensure that balances are correct and that subsidiary records are in agreement with general ledger control accounts.
- Participate in the month-end close process, including ensuring all sub-ledger data in the general ledger is accurate at each month end, importing monthly activity from the various subsystems to the General Ledger, gathering and documenting back-up support, and preparing various month-end batches and journals.
- Document accounting procedures processes and internal controls, reviewing annually for effectiveness and recommends revisions as necessary.
- As needed, monitor Accounts Receivable (A/R) Aging and coordinate with other departments when appropriate; may perform A/R functions.
- As needed, perform accounting activities for subsidiary entities.
- Assist in cash receipts processing, as needed.
- Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with appropriate electric utility industry regulatory requirements. Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of development in regulations, laws, standards and best practices applicable to the functional area including, but not limited to, Standards of Conduct, Environmental, Employment Law, NERC Reliability Standards and Safety. Must be familiar with, and comply with, all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and Training - Bachelor's degree or related experience in Accounting or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: - Ability to perform detail work with high degree of accuracy.

- Ability to communicate effectively and timely, both verbally and in writing.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, to include but not limited to: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

- Understanding of the interrelationships between and among various data systems with the ability to recognize when issues arise.
- Knowledge of subsidiary accounting and elimination accounting processes.
- Strong working knowledge of personal computers, computerized accounting systems, MS Office suite and familiarity with report writer applications such as SAS and OBIEE.
Experience: - Two and one half ( 2 1/2) to Five (5) years of progressive accounting experience in general ledger (or equivalent combination of experience and education). Note: The above requirements describe the experience and education qualifications for the Accounting Analyst II. Those with less experience will be hired at the Accounting Analyst I job grade level.
Other: - Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
- Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid driver's license.)
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in electric utility accounting.
- Knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accounting and reporting requirements and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with current issues related to local, state and federal regulations, as applicable to accounting, tax and current accounting issues.
