Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment including all equipment, tools, and parts.
Coordinates all necessary preventative maintenance and repairs around mowing schedules and equipment usage.
Develops and implements a preventative maintenance schedule for inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing all Golf Maintenance Equipment.
Maintains proper inventory levels of parts, fluids, oils, etc.
Maintains records of preventative maintenance, and repairs.
Responsible for ordering parts and equipment as it pertains to preventative maintenance and repairs.
Tracks purchases and related expenses as it pertains to the shop, and all equipment repairs.
Able to perform all equipment maintenance and repair within the equipment budget as assigned by the golf course superintendent (GCS).
Assists GCS during annual operating and capital budget preparation process.
Assists in training employees’ proper safety and operation of equipment.
Periodically operates equipment to insure it is working properly and helps with maintenance of golf course as needed.
Assists in safety training.
As directed, operates all hand and power tools and some tractors/backhoes, dump truck, and other construction equipment.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Operates vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
Attends and participates in special committees or other meetings as assigned.

Four (4) years of prior work experience on a golf course and a minimum of (1) one year of supervisory experience, or any combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines, reel and blade grinding, sharpening, and adjusting.
Working knowledge and theory, care, and operation of hydraulics.
Knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication.
Knowledge and experience in electrical schematics and troubleshooting.
Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and schedule appropriate maintenance work.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Dedicated to personal improvement and course advancement.
Physically capable of performing all tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment.
Ability to operate all forms of light and heavy golf course maintenance equipment.
Must be able to prioritize and follow/carry out a variety of assignments.
Able to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
Knowledge of the game of golf and the understanding of how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
About Chevy Chase Country Club/ Wheeling Park District
Chevy Chase Country Club was originally designed and built in 1927 by renowned architect Thomas Bendelow, was renovated in 2002 by Bob Lohmann. Located 25 miles from Chicago in the Near North Suburbs. The par 72 course is reflective of the architecture from the origin of the game of golf. Deep pot bunkers lined with native fescue grasses, generous rolling greens, and undulating bent-grass fairways are some of the great features guests enjoy.
