KSL.com seeks just the right person to join our news management team to help edit, manage and develop news content for the largest news outlet in Utah. This person will report to the KSL.com news director. The full-time position is for a day manager position or an evening manager position, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

 KSL.com focuses on daily and breaking news, which keeps its staff in the heart of news coverage important to Utahns. Our success in the market is built on the work of several decades of understanding and refining that focus.

KSL.com news managers take on roles identified by industry titles that include line editor, copy editor, section editor, team leader, content producer, and content manager. The ideal candidate for this position is a multimedia journalist who has great news judgment, a passion for news and audience engagement, and a commitment to upholding the brand standards of KSL.com and its parent, Deseret Digital Media. The successful candidate will be a self-directed leader driven to innovate and improve and a team player in a hybrid work environment of home and office.

Most news managers have daytime schedules, while a few are specifically assigned to work nights or weekends. Managers are also be part of a rotation that includes work in the evenings, weekends, holidays and as a fill-ins for co-workers who are sick or taking scheduled time off. Managers need to have a professional understanding of the need to be available during off hours when a major breaking news event takes place and should be available to answer questions and give direction whenever reasonably possible to keep staff workflow moving at the speed of news. Work/life balance is also a high priority at KSL.com. Coordinating time off is essential to organizational stability. Regularly taking advantage of time off, in accordance with company policy, helps promote individual well-being and sets an example for other staff members to also see the value in using their vacation benefits.
