Department: IT Cyber Telecom &Network Svcs Salary/Grade: NEX/21
Leads network/telecommunication system, product and/or service installation projects. Supervises and delegates work to other staff members. Partners with users to determine business needs; reviews existing systems and services; recommends cost efficient, state-of-the-art systems, products and/or services ensuring that goals and objectives are attained.
Partners with users to understand network/telecommunication needs.
Analyzes building infrastructures and recommends and coordinates remedial changes as necessary while evaluating fit of new technologies and ensuring that all systems, products and services meet user business needs.
Leads medium to large projects.
Leads projects that involve the installation, repair and/or adjustment of University network/ telecommunications and related equipment using standard tools and test equipment while following established procedures.
Coordinates efforts with other Telecom and Network Services' technicians, peers and managers in the analysis of building infrastructure.
Responsible for the coordination and completion of contracted work.
Diagnoses complex hardware, software and/or network malfunctions in accordance with established practices.
Supervises a staff of Field Operations Technicians to complete orders and repairs while maintaining new and existing copper and fiber outside and inside plant facilities.
Provides guidance to local technicians (same campus) for completing orders and repairs on a daily basis per Northwestern University standards
Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
Recommends staff hires/terminations.
Coaches and mentors staff.
Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
5 years of communications wiring and installation work experience or comparable accredited technical training is required.
