In an efficient and professional manner, and accordance with the DMEA/IBEW Labor Agreement and DMEA's Safety Manual, a System Designer must be able to:
Perform all system design duties required for the installation of new line extensions and system improvements including but not limited to: working with customers to identify their needs and to determine an acceptable layout, designing line extensions/upgrades, obtaining rights-of-way and permits, preparing work order documents.
Communicates in a professional manner with customers to obtain information and to answer questions, to schedule design work, to provide basic member services information, and to clearly explain DMEA's Extension Policy, Electric Service Regulations and Rates. Communicates well with employees and collaborates with Operations.
Must be able to work independently.
Performs necessary data entry for work order system.
Responsible for training Apprentice System Designers.
Works with the GIS Mapping and Data Specialists.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other duties of a like or lesser grade, which may be assigned.

Knows and keeps up with changes to the National Electric Safety Code and DMEA construction specifications.

Must have legible handwriting. Must have acceptable written and oral communication skills.
Must have a working knowledge of DMEA's Extension Policy, Electric Service Regulations, Rate Tariffs, and basic member services information.
Requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; work cooperatively; and work under stress to complete projects accurately within reasonable deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS AN EXPERIENCE:
Must have a completion certificate of DMEA's System Designer Apprenticeship or company-approved equivalent. Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License. Must have experience working with the public. Must have experience in using various office machines such as personal computers, calculators, copying machines, telephones, transits, and GPS units. High school graduate or equivalent is required. Must have good communication skills.
