We are seeking an assistant superintendent to join our team in advance of a full-course renovation in 2023! The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented person working to become a golf course superintendent.
The course at Lemon Bay will begin a J. Drew Rogers master planned renovation on April 3rd, 2023. The project entails a new irrigation system, rebuilding greens to USGA specifications, rebuilding tees, and new bunkers with Better Billy Bunker liners. In addition, the entire course will be re-grassed to Bimini bermudagrass with Tif-Eagle on the greens.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a goal-oriented assistant superintendent to add a full-course reconstruction experience to their resume as they work toward obtaining a superintendent position.
The ideal candidates possess the following:
Ability to work independently to carry out written and verbal instructions
Eye for detail during visual inspections of the golf course conditions and clubhouse grounds
Good organizational and prioritization skills
Possess a pesticide and fertilizer license or the ability to obtain within 90 days
Experience operating and training staff on all golf course equipment
Knowledge of calibration and use of spreaders, sprayers, and moisture meters
Team-oriented leader who can be productive and supervise simultaneously
Safety-oriented and promotes a safe work environment through training and PPE
Must have valid drivers license
Required to lift at least 50 Lbs. and work outside in the South Florida weather
Ability to manage the maintenance operation in the absence of the Superintendent
Knowledge of Southern turf grasses preferred
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Irrigation maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience
Experience managing moisture on all playing surfaces with moisture meter and hand watering practices as well as irrigation system operation
Lemon Bay Golf Club is a private, 18-hole golf club in Englewood, Florida. The course is slated for a J. Drew Rogers designed, full-course renovation in 2023 and conversion to Bimini Bermudagrass with Tif-Eagle greens.
