Position Summary
The HR Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources capabilities by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and processes. The HR Operations Manager is an individual contributor as well as team leader, and supervises staff employees who carry out day-to-day operational activities in the area of employment, compensation, performance and training and data management. Position serves as a collaborative member of the management team and reports to the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Provides leadership and oversight of HR Operations staff, establishing performance goals, providing constructive feedback, allocating resources and handling day-to-day activities, and escalated issues, associated with operational services provided by department
Provides employee relations counseling; investigate and resolve employee relations issues and conflicts, and providing recommendations for solutions; collaborate with Office of General Counsel as necessary.
Oversees position classification and compensation processes to ensure proper alignment with compensation program; provides guidance on new positions, reclassifications, job description best practices and job qualifications
Provides oversight of hiring process, applicant tracking system, personnel transactions and record management in accordance with policy and best practices
Provides oversight of the University's performance management system for non-faculty employees including objectives of maximizing engagement, job performance and employee development; determines resources and training needed in this regard, and works to establishes processes and evaluate outcomes
Serves as liaison with university management and staff to discuss and resolve a variety of escalated human resources issues, such as staffing, compensation, reorganization, policy interpretation and related personnel issues.
Establish standard operating procedures and ongoing training and documentation for all HR processes and activities. Ensure system and people processes are well documented, regularly updated, and end-user trained.
Create, implement and evaluate HR policy and procedures
Present or provide training on topics relevant to HR functional areas for the benefit of employee groups
Collaborate with Department Leadership to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with work of HR Operations team
Represent the Department of Human Resources within the University community by participating and serving as subject matter expert or in other leadership capacities
Develops methods to collect, analyze, and monitor HR data for solutions or improved effectiveness, efficiency.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Corporate/Organizational Communication, or related
Five years of human resources experience
Demonstrated experience successfully leading and supervising a team
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
