The Assistant Superintendent of Grounds works with the park Forman and reports directly to the Superintendent of Parks. This position provides a unique opportunity to build a strong culture within our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be a positive leader, motivator, and will act as a mentor to our team. The ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.
Successful Candidates Will Possess:
A minimum of 4 years of landscape maintenance experience
Minimum of 4 years maintenance experience; and
Construction experience a plus
Experience managing and organizing a large crew
Training, motivating and supervising staff capable of performing the tasks associated with maintaining the park
Desire to become a Superintendent
Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills
Maintain a positive, safe, respectful working environment which will be following all city, county, and state regulations
Assists in staff management and evaluation, employee safety and employee counseling
Self-starter who leads by example
Has strong organizational skills and an eye for detail
Irrigation operation, troubleshooting, and supervision of repairs of all components of the irrigation system
Experience calibrating, and applying, and monitoring chemical and fertilizer applications
Oversee safe operations, proper maintenance, and care of all equipment required for the maintenance of the park and facility
Ensuring proper use, cleanliness, and security of maintenance facilities and equipment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and operational skills in Word and Excel programs a plus
Special Requirements:
Spanish speaking preferred but not necessary
Experience with Toro irrigation operating system preferred
Must be able to attain California QAL/QAC within 180-days of employment
