SCG includes three branches - Special Event Production & Equipment Rentals, Lightscapes Landscape Lighting & Sound Installation, and Commercial Audio Visual Integration. Our office is located in Santa Barbara and we work throughout the county via events, permanent lighting and A/V installations year round. SCG started in 2006 when our founder and president used his background as a technical theater expert as inspiration to put his business degree to good use. He recognized the need to blend technical savvy with an eye for design and detail in the growing event design industry. The company has grown to include a full calendar of hundreds of events annually including corporate events, fundraisers, weddings, and more. In 2020, Lightscapes by SPARK was born out of necessity and need - we are the only true lighting design experts in the landscape lighting sector in Santa Barbara, and work both at homes and estates as well as commercial spaces to ensure safety, beauty and ambiance with the best products on the market. Additionally, SPARK acquired Jensen Audio Visual in 2022 to fill out our repertoire to include A/V integration systems, seamlessly equipping corporate and government buildings with the most up to date technology.
SCS is seeking a full time Lead Technician for the A/V Integration division of the company. The ideal candidate for the position would be a skilled installer, programmer, and problem solver with exceptional interpersonal skills. They would be creative, focused, and detail oriented, maintaining a high standard we have worked hard to establish. This person needs to be an excellent level 2 technician with the ability to manage a crew.
A minimum of 5 years working experience in an electronics or AV field is required.
Either CST-I or EST-L2 Certification
Valid and current driver’s license
Must be able to work on government properties like air force bases that perform a background check before granting entry.
Some manufacturer training and certification by: Extron, AMX, Tandberg, Polycom, Media Matrix, Control 4 and/or Harmon.
Minimum of 80 hours of continuing education required per year
On site, this person will need to:
Have full working knowledge of commercial construction methods such as ceiling deck construction, wall framing and structural engineering.
Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well with other people.
Be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized.
Have superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers
Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt well with diverse groups.
Demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.
Be familiar with effectively handling stressful situations
Most of our projects some or all of the following:
Digital signage displays, TVs or video walls
Projectors and screens
Indoor or outdoor audio systems
Video conferencing equipment
Survellience systems
System control, most often by Extron
SPARK understands that in order to stay current in our field, additional trainings and development opportunities are imperative to our collective success. This position is no exception and will be assigned to develop and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers, including continuing education and maintaining certificates.
