JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for set design and completion within the Director’s time frame for the production.
Designs set in accordance with play selection and allotted time frame, meeting Theatre Director’s approval.
Requests budget information, reviews and coordinates technical crew budgets. Presents Coordinator of Student Activities & Services with detailed crew budgets.
Schedules and supervises student set building time. Assists in providing technical instruction to theatre students.
Monitors crew progress and reports to Theatre Director as necessary.
Assists in promoting safe and proper operation of shop facilities in accordance with accepted shop practice.
May coordinate additional assistance from Theatre Manager and his staff when required for completion of projects.
Returns all invoices and receipts to Coordinator of Student Activities & Services for recordkeeping.
Assists in training students with lighting and sound board operation.
Responsible for the adherence to established budgets.
Responsible for the breakdown of the set after the final performance of each run.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the CAO, Chief Academic Officer
SUPERVISION GIVEN:Provides general supervision to the technical crew heads and theatre students.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate degree or higher preferred. Experience in theater set construction is required. Experience with budget oversight, student activities, and a willingness to work with students in a service capacity required. Must possess strong oral and written communication motivating skills and be able to work as a team member with the College community.
