Manage activities of a multi-craft team in providing maintenance and repair for buildings and related systems and facilities within an assigned campus area. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with area maintenance staff, other facilities management and employees, project management, designers, engineers, vendors, contractors and customers. This position typically will advise and counsel area maintenance staff, other facilities management and employees, project management, designers, engineers, vendors, contractors and customers. This position will supervise maintenance staff.
Coordinate customer service activities for assigned area to include service calls, performance of planned and preventative maintenance, major repair and renovation.
Assure the optimal operation of all building components and systems within assigned area.
Coordinate work requirements with other Facilities units, contractors/vendors and other outside resources.
Provide estimates and budgets for minor and major project work, maintenance contracts, reimbursable work requests and campus events.
Coordinate acquisition of required materials.
Supervise personnel. Schedule and assign employees and related resources and evaluate work performance.
Participate in recruiting new employees; coach, counsel, train and monitor development of staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Valid Georgia Driver's License. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations requiring following extensive safety precautions. The job typically requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, sitting or standing for long periods of time; accessing work areas from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and bucket trucks to heights necessary to inspect the operation, installation, repair, and replacement of building components and systems. Job will require accessing and working in confined space areas; may require wearing a full-face respirator in accordance with GT campus policies and procedures. Position may require the ability to obtain a state issued purchasing card to procure materials and account for purchases using state purchasing card guidelines.
Six to eight years of job related experience
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field
This job requires advanced knowledge in construction and maintenance management, project management and supervision of craft personnel. Also required is a working knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements for building structures and components and the use of basic and specialized computer applications.
