Background Parking and Transportation Services is a self-supporting unit of the University of Minnesota within Auxiliary Services. The department is responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus including transit, parking, fleet, streets, walkways and way-finding. PTS supports alternatives to the single-occupant vehicle and promotes programs to encourage the University community to walk, bike, carpool, or take the bus. The department handles compliance documentation for all University vehicles or licensed equipment and administers the fuel credit card, vehicle insurance and safety, and employee driver training programs. PTS Mission Facilitating safe and effective integrated transportation systems that provide services for pedestrians, bicycles, transit and vehicles.
Responsibilities 50% Daily Parking Operations Support  Open the operations office on weekdays and contacts a relief supervisor when the scheduled field supervisor is unexpectedly out.  Serve as the first point of contact for the student employees. Answer questions from student employees regarding work procedures on a daily basis within a facility.  Provide high quality customer service to the University community and beyond.  Review the attendant schedule system and assist full-time supervisors in attendant assignment by facility to maintain appropriate staffing level.  Use parking access control system to adjust space count and keycard access system.  Answer phone calls from attendants in the field and relay info, as needed, to supervisor in the field.  Answer questions related to automated pay machines, respond to or initiate inquiries, and explain policies and procedures.  Monitor video system for issues and maintenance concerns in University parking facilities.
20% Customer Service  Handle customer service calls, including but not limited to, meter reservation requests, defective meter logs, and contract no-tags.  Act as contact for parking citation complaints.  Provide back-up assistance to customer service and automated support functions.
20% Coordinate Efforts to Operate and Maintain Facilities  Act as primary first shift contact from operations to maintenance office to follow-up on status of repairs and malfunctions of equipment as reported the previous day/night by operations staff in the field.  Report maintenance issues utilizing the computerized maintenance system and monitor the resolution progress.  Report and log automated pay machine malfunctions.
10% Other Duties as Assigned  Assist with other parking functions as needed.  Assist with FM emergencies requiring facility access and the often-unplanned construction staging in the early morning.
Work Environment The position requires work to be performed primarily in an office setting.
Work Schedule: Parking & Transportation is a 24/4 Operation. The work schedule will vary, but will include a 4 days work week.
Salary Range: $35,422.00 - $48,880.00
Minimum Qualifications  Two years of experience in a general office setting and post high school education.  Customer service, public contact, and telephone experience.  Computer experience required to include data entry and retrieval.
Preferred Qualifications
 Experience in a fast paced, service oriented, teamwork driven environment.  Ability to balance multiple work demands and thrive in change.  Possess conflict management and problem solving skills.  Knowledge of MS Office suite, McGann, and iSeries computer systems.
