Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has been helping animals and people since 1873. Together with our community, we better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care. Our organization cares for thousands of animals each year—saving animals from abuse and suffering, sending homeless pets to new homes, connecting pet owners with resources to keep their pets, and sharing information on how to help animals every day. The Community Veterinarian carries out the mission of Lollypop Farm by leading a team focused on increasing access to veterinary care for pets and their owners – providing wellness care for beloved pets and performing high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter cats and dogs.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide compassionate, high-quality preventive and basic care to patients from underserved areas, overseeing all aspects of veterinary care including physical examination, diagnostics, treatment recommendations and delivery, prescribing of medications, and discharge information. Triage and refer cases that do not fall within the parameters of care, as appropriate.
Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter and basic surgical procedures for dog and cat patients, including low-cost spay/neuter (SNIP) and community cat (TNVR) clients.
Practice in a non-conventional veterinary setting, such as a mobile unit or a pop-up wellness vaccine clinic, potentially in underserved communities.
Help drive the effort to build a brick-and-mortar community veterinary practice focused on increasing access to veterinary care for underserved communities as part of Lollypop Farm’s strategic plan.
Manage all aspects of a low-cost veterinary practice, including supervise employees, manage budget, and maintain records as required.
Perform humane euthanasia in accordance with Lollypop Farm’s policy and protocols.
Practice FearFree® animal handling to decrease anxiety, stress, and fear for all patients.
Provide the highest standard of care for animals in accordance with the AVMA, NYSVMA, ASV, and OSHA, and stay current with developments in veterinary medicine.
Support our communications and public relations efforts through on-camera interviews or other promotions as requested.
Maintain positive, respectful relationships with team members.

Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others.
