About the Club:
Mt. Hawley Country Club is a private 18-hole club founded in 1922. Its name honors the original land owning family and its scenic overlook view of the Illinois River. The membership and grounds staff take great pride in its 100 year old club. The golf course is expected to be maintained at the highest quality and standards. Many renovations have taken place in recent years. The entire course was renovated in 1997; including the construction of California style greens. Recent renovations have resulted in a new maintenance facility, new irrigation system and new cart paths. The club has begun planning renovations to bunkers, tee complexes, landscaping and addition of no-mow/ fescue areas.
About the Position:
Mt. Hawley Country Club is seeking an individual to take the position of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This individual will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in managing all aspects of the golf course and grounds. The assistant golf curse superintendent schedules daily tasks, supervises and trains employees. We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated and wants to develop as a professional in this industry.
Responsibilities include:
Scheduling and managing daily tasks
Chemical and fertilizer applications
Irrigation repair and maintenance
Disease/ pest scouting and identification
Work with staff to ensure the course is maintained based on our maintenance standards and agronomic plan

Requirements:
2 to 3 years of golf course maintenance experience
Minimum 2-year degree or certificate in agronomy or a turf-related field (Preferred)
Pesticide operators or applicators license or ability to obtain in 60 days
Experience applying fertilizers and pesticides
Experience operating and repairing irrigation systems
Knowledge of IPM and disease management
Additional Requirements:
Work 40 hours a week, and every other weekend (during the season)
Communicate with membership in a positive and professional manner
Highly motivated, willingness to learn and grow in the industry
Mt. Hawley Country Club is located in Peoria, Illinois. The private 18-hole club sits on 95-acres. California style greens with bent/ poa mix. Ht. Hawley has hosted 7 Illinois State Amateur tournaments and rates as one of the top facilities in central Illinois.
