Assist in the development of the annual maintenance budget and operating plan. Implement the program according to Company operating policies and procedures to ensure cost containment.
Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved.
Supervise developing and maintaining drainage, irrigation, pumping, and water reservoir systems.
Supervise all planting, fertilizing, and care of turf, plants, shrubs, and trees on the golf course and grounds. Assist with developing and implementing a fertilizer, aeration, and Integrated Pest Management program for proper turf grass and plant care.
Supervise equipment maintenance and repair operations. Establish and implement a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate equipment, tools, vehicles, etc.
Ensure maintenance of all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards including, but not limited to, employee hygiene and uniforms, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, chemical and fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunch-room areas, restrooms, etc.
Monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain proper inventories of supplies and ensure the appropriate quantity and price on all purchases.
Manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including but not limited to personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline, termination, etc.
Maintain accurate records of department activities including, but not limited to, labor schedules, course maintenance, construction activities, equipment repair, safety meetings and activities, fertilizer and chemical applications, and pest control practices. Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budget, and related reports.
Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
Must have excellent organizational, financial, and communication skills and be able to interface with all facets of Club operations and membership.
Works closely with, advises, and coordinates with the Golf Professionals on any issues related to golf course maintenance and discusses activities, forecasts, goals, plans, and customer/member input.
Works closely with Supervisor to operate the Golf Course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
Submit reports when required, participate in newsletter communications, and keep open communication lines with all stakeholders.
Perform other duties as appropriate.

Two or four-year degree/certificate in a related field preferred or equivalent experience; at least four-plus years of golf course maintenance experience in agronomy or turf grass sciences or golf course superintendent certification.
Irrigation experience is preferred.
Ability to see the "Big Picture" of the golf course.
A working knowledge of golf construction principles, practices, and methods and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, leadership qualities, and administrative and executive ability, especially in problem-solving and decision-making.
Requires current state licensing as a pesticide applicator or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Requires knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws, as well as regulations affecting the management of the golf course operations – including employment, safety regulations, and environmental standards and laws.
Must be highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
