Candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a golf operation that is continually evolving with various construction projects taking place each year. Assistant superintendents will work closely with First Assistants to plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of the maintenance of the golf course. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, reliable, and eager to learn. Candidates must also have the willingness to work the hours required to uphold the high standards of Pine Valley Golf Club as well as have a strong eye for detail with a desire to advance in the turf maintenance industry.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for the proper handling, mixing, application of pesticides and fertilizers, and accurate recordkeeping. They will provide supervision and directly participate in the daily maintenance of the golf course.

Educational Requirements

• Two- or four-year degree in agronomy and/or soil science

Experience Requirements

• Prior experience working on a golf course/previous internships preferred

Special Requirements

• Must have a passion for the turf industry with a strong desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent
• Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in Turf Maintenance
• Must be willing to take directions and provide clear and concise directions to staff
• Must possess ability to coordinate and complete tasks with limited supervision
• Must be a self-starter and eager to learn
• Must be able to recognize and solve problems
• Must maintain high performance standards
• Must be able to obtain New Jersey Pesticide license in a timely manner
