Jimmie Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma has internship positions available for 2023/2024. This opportunity will provide the candidate with hands-on experience in all aspects of golf course management at one of the premier collegiate golf clubs in the country. In this positon, you will also gain experience with preparation for the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour and how to achieve championship-playing conditions required by the PGA.
The internship will provide the opportunity to learn bentgrass management in the transition zone, including moisture management, fertility and other management practices. During the internship, the candidate will have the opportunity to be mentored by our Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents who possess years of experience in the turf and golf business.
This opportunity will allow candidates to develop a solid foundation for a career in the golf course industry along with unique hands-on-experience with professional tournament preparation, construction and the knowledge of what it takes to be successful in the industry.
The candidate must be pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management or related field. Previous golf course experience is preferred but not required.

About Jimmie Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma
Jimmie Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma, is owned and operated by the University of Oklahoma. It is
the home to the University Men and Women’s golf teams. Golfweek voted Jimmie Austin as the #6 Best Campus
Courses in 2022. It is host to a Korn Ferry tournament and has hosted a number of amateur and collegiate
championships.
The course is an 18-hole layout with practice facilities. The OU Men and Women’s golf teams have a separate
practice facility, including a 4-hole short course on property. Bentgrass greens consist of A-1/A-4, G-2, and Pure
Distinction with Zeon Zoysia tees, collars and approaches, Bermuda fairways and roughs.
The history of the course is a steeped in tradition and excellence as the University itself. The course was designed
by the renowned architect Perry Maxwell in 1951 and renovated in 1996 by Robert Cupp. The most recent
renovation concluded in 2017 and was led by University of Oklahoma golfer and architect, Tripp Davis.
