A Civil Engineer in the transmission department works on a team that is responsible for transmission line design engineering, engineering analysis, project management of transmission projects, and support to our operations and maintenance teams in the field.
Appropriate compensation for this role will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and previous relevant experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Transmission Line Design Engineering
Prepare plan & profile drawings, detailed construction drawings and specifications
Develop complete material lists for projects
Assure all transmission line design meets strength and safety requirements of Minnkota's Design Manual, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and/or the Rural Utility System (RUS) design manual
Engineering Analysis
Perform foundation design calculations
Perform structure design and strength calculations using PLS-CADD
Determine mechanical loading capabilities or transmission structures
Project Management
Project scoping, planning and estimating of transmission projects
Contractor and construction coordination and management
Operations and Maintenance Support
Provide day-to-day guidance and technical expertise to operations and maintenance personnel
Verify asset attribute records
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Required:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification
Experience
Required:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
Experience in the energy industry and with transmission line design a plus. Interested candidates with no experience are encouraged to apply as extensive on-the-job training will occur
