The ETSU Interior Design Program invites applicants/nominations for a Professor of Practice to meet current demand and drive future growth in the program. Ideal candidates will possess extensive professional experience, a passion for pursuing university-level teaching, and a willingness to advance the department's/program's goals. The Professor of Practice position is established to connect veteran professional leaders and practitioners with a career opportunity to transition to a university faculty position.
The position is a non-tenure track, nine-month academic appointment, 3-year term with the option of renewal starting in Aug 2024 or open until filled. The applicant should demonstrate an interest in multi-disciplinary collaboration across service and teaching. Responsibilities include teaching 3-4 courses per semester teaching include both lecture and studio type courses and be proficient in multiple CAD packages and other illustrative software. Summer teaching opportunities for additional compensation might become available.
Responsibilities:
Teaching: Standard teaching load of 3-4 courses per semester with assignments throughout the various levels and types of courses offered in the program. Courses could include but are not limited to interior history courses, textiles, design for human behavior, materials, building systems, construction fundamentals, and various types/levels of studios.
Service: Serve on committees at the college, and the departmental level. Actively participate in CIDA accreditation and other assessment processes and assist in developing and revising curricula to meet accreditation standards.
