Description: The Maintenance Mechanic performs building maintenance and repairs. Incumbent performs general carpentry in the construction, repair and alteration of floors, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, desks and cabinets; selects, cuts and trims lumber to size to make furniture and repairs. This position assembles furniture, hangs wallpaper, installs ceiling tile and glass, removes and replaces air conditioners where needed. The incumbent aids in repairing and/or replacing faulty plumbing and other minor plumbing repairs, (i.e. unplugs stopped up drains, puts on faucets, repairs leaks, replaces commode seats, shower heads).
