Lakewood Country Club is looking to fill intern positions for the summer of 2025. This position can extend into the fall. Lakewood Country Club was designed by Tom Bendelow and opened for play in 1912. Throughout the years the club has gone renovations by Ralph Plummer and Coore and Crenshaw. Lakewood Country Club is entering into a new era of its rich and established history. In the fall of 2025, the Club will undergo a major golf course renovation at the direction of renowned golf course architect, Andrew Green. All 18 holes are being redesigned to complement a new state-of-the-art practice facility, teaching studio and on-course comfort station. The project will include hydronics, sub air, 2 wire HDPE irrigation and other new technologies.
This position requires a driven individual who aspires to be a leader within the industry. This individual needs to be efficient, possess high expectations and strong time management skills. This individual needs to understand the requirements and demands of working at high end private facility. This position will be tailored to the skills, abilities and potential of the individual to ensure they benefit from their time at Lakewood.
Lakewood has hosted many events over the years. Lakewood played host to the Dallas Victory Open where Byron Nelson won one of his eight tournament titles that year. The Victory Open became the Dallas Open, which later become the Byron Nelson Classic, one of the most successful events on the PGA Tour. The long and happy association between Lakewood and the Nelson family continues to this day with the Byron Nelson Junior Championship played annually at the Club. U.S Open Sectional Qualifier (2017,2020,2022), Texas Amateur (2017), U.S Amateur Qualifier (2023), North Texas Senior PGA Championship (2024), U.S Mid-Amateur qualifier (2024).
Ideally the candidate would be a strong fit for the club’s future. With a Masterplan on the horizon interns would be ideal candidates for Assistant positions as the club progresses with construction, execution and maintenance of the finished product.
Interns do not need to have previous experience. They do need to have a positive attitude, good work ethic and a willingness to learn and progress. They are encouraged to be In a Turf program or on the verge of enrolling into one.
Interns will be exposed to all aspects in turf management including Daily Course set up, Fertilizer and chemical calibration and applications, Water management, Experience with bentgrass greens in the transition zone, irrigation trouble shooting and repair, Tournament set up, daily mowing, crew management and more.
