Position Summary:
As the Manager of Engineering at Lea County Electric Cooperative, you'll be a key figure in managing both the immediate and long-term performance of our electrical distribution network. We're looking for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for enhancing community energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Conducting System Evaluations:
- Analyze the complexities of our electrical distribution infrastructure.
- Develop a comprehensive four-year maintenance and construction strategy to ensure system reliability and performance.
Collaborating for System Efficiency:
- Work closely with the engineering team to evaluate load flow, short circuit conditions, and protective relaying.
- Create studies on voltage regulation, arc flash safety, and coordination to enhance network efficiency.
Planning for Growth:
- Identify and plan future upgrades in response to growing loads and expanding business demands.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this position, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience with an electrical utility organization.
- A solid foundation in trigonometry, calculus, algebra, and analytic geometry.
- Familiarity with equipment from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories or similar (preferred).
- A valid New Mexico driver's license and willingness to comply with drug testing requirements.
- Knowledge of NERC and FERC regulations, with experience in SPP being a plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving, time management, and communication abilities.
Work Hours:
This role typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, promoting a balance between work and personal life.
