Coosa Country Club is looking to hire a Golf Course Superintendent, under the direction and guidance of the Director of Agronomy. The Golf Course Superintendent manages and participates in the general maintenance of 18 holes of golf, Clubhouse grounds, irrigation system, pumping stations, and Golf course maintenance facilities.
Course Operation: Private Member owned 18 holes, established in the year 1909. Coosa Country Club has a rich history in the game of golf in the state of Georgia. The golf course has recently completed an extensive Greens/Bunker restoration and the installation of a new state of the art irrigation system.
Duties: The position of Golf Course Superintendent will assist in all facets of golf course maintenance while working closely with the Director of Agronomy, Assistant Superintendent's and other golf maintenance employees. The goal of this position is to provide Coosa CC members and guests with an unequaled golfing experience. This can only be done by keeping golf course conditions at a premium daily. This is a management position. The candidate must display leadership skills, and lead by example. Duties include daily planning and scheduling of all work, equipment, chemical/fertilizer applications, and irrigation repairs. Along with constant supervision, and training of employees, the GCS will be responsible for recruiting new employees, hiring, motivating, and providing an outstanding, safe working environment for our employees. The candidate should be goal oriented and seeking a career in Golf Course Management.
Essential Functions and responsibilities-
Hiring, training, daily scheduling and supervision of GCM staff, including the assistance in managing payroll.
Oversees the completion of work assignments by crew members and assists in field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards, and safe yet efficient equipment usage.
Constant monitoring of the turfgrass systems throughout the year, ensuring proper water, nutrients, and using an IPM approach to disease prevention.
Operation and maintenance of pumping systems including program scheduling, record keeping, and assisting in repairs to the system.
Communicating regularly with all management team members to discuss events, goals, and expectations.
Monitors sprayer/spreader calibrations and applications of fertilizers and pesticides; responsibilities include the safety and direction of chemical handlers and helpers as well as the proper tank mixing of spray programs as specified by the Director of Agronomy.
Daily recordkeeping of staff activities, employee HR issues, weather data, cultural practices and irrigation use.
Facilitating weekly GCM staff crew meetings discussing safety procedures, golf course expectations/standards, crew motivation, and general training.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Hiring, training, and daily supervision of Golf Course Maintenance staff, ensuring proper and safe use of GCM maintenance facility and equipment. Assists in personnel management and evaluation. The Golf Course Superintendent must be a highly organized and motivated individual, willing to work long hours in variable weather conditions, weekends, holidays and emergency calls when needed.
General Requirements: (Required) Minimum two-year turf degree or related field, and 2-3 years' experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant Superintendent, plus general golf course experience. Must have working golf course knowledge, and great work ethic. Ability to supervise greens crew and construction projects. Must have or be working towards acquiring Ga. Pesticide License. Applicants must pass background, and drug screening.
