The Skills Coach will serve as a key student resource in an experiential learning course within the Online Master's in Management - Accounting Analytics program. This role involves supporting students in building and reflecting on professional, industry-related skills. Skills Coaches will meet with students one-on-one each term to discuss their skill development, provide feedback, and connect students to resources that enhance the skill-development process.
This is a part-time, temporary position with the potential for rehire in future academic terms. Skills Coaches will spend an estimated 8-15 hours per week assisting students.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Meet individually with students to discuss their skill development, set goals, offer guidance, and facilitate reflection on their progress.
Ensure students continue to develop their chosen skills and identify areas for further improvement.
Offer personalized feedback to help students reflect on their professional experiences and recognize the skills they've applied or demonstrated in their work.
Refer students to relevant course materials and support services to aid in their skill development.
Initiate communication with students to schedule their required coaching meetings.
Maintain detailed, accurate notes after each student meeting.
Uphold strict confidentiality expectations, and ensure students also maintain confidentiality of their professional work, reporting any instances of breach in confidentiality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant professional experience in the field of accounting, analytics, career development, or other higher-education backgrounds is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback.
Ability to foster a supportive and reflective environment for student growth.
Detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
Location Requirements: Priority for Boston area candidates or candidates local to other NU Campuses.
